Good Faith Estimate

Your Right to Receive a Good Faith Estimate

Under the federal No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of your mental health services before your first appointment.

What you can expect

  • Your provider will give you a written estimate at least 1 business day before your scheduled service.
  • You can ask your provider, or any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
  • Keep a copy of your Good Faith Estimate in a safe place or take pictures of it.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
